As we get closer to Memorial day I thought we all could reflect on what this holiday really means. Please share it if you like this. Thanks! Does anyone really know what ‘Memorial’ Day means? For me, it started when I was in England around the month of November. Everywhere you looked someone was wearing a poppy, even as a service member I had no idea what this was about and I honestly didn’t think much of it. I always thought that it was pretty cool how most of the people wore one. Hell, I thought it was just an English thing. Time went on and it always stayed in the back of my mind, I didn’t look into it until after I was already out of the Air Force and something brought it to my attention. I decided to educate myself and found that the poppy is a symbol of Remembrance Day also know as Armistice Day or Veterans Day/November 11th. The poppy was worn in memory of fallen soldiers. Funny thing is this was not an English tradition! It was started by an American.
